This is our token civil war song...is there such a thing'
Not really, no,
Like everybody does a civil war song'
Well, the cowboy bands used to. We're touting ourselves as a cowboy band since...
I don't think 311 did a civil war song, did they'
I don't know, but I mean we can't sell ourselves as anything but a cowboy band now, and I figure cowboy bands do civil war tunes,
The other night you introduced it as a "civil world war tune",
Yeah,
Well, obviously I didn't take World Civ...'cause my brain is like one,
Nothing like being mordantly self deprecating in front or your beloved audience,
Are you done'
Almost, I want to wile them with my rapier wit; I'm an English major,
You'll get you GDE pretty soon, Mike, don't worry 'bout it,
I'm just trying to kill time while you guys dork around on your guitars,
We're ready,
We're ready to play,
This is a beautiful tune. You know we went to Gettysburg one time as a band, this was back when Gene was still with us, and we looked at that vast, sort of austral land and couldn't believe that such brutal, murderous activity took place, you know, in such a serene environment. And I have a funny feeling that maybe that day inspired Terry to write this song - I don't know. It had to leave some kind of mental scar, I think.
That didn't...quite come out right,
That wasn't eloquent, that wasn't eloquent but I think you'll understand what I mean. It's got kind of a twist to it.
